Recently I attended a Gong/Sound therapy workshop, being honest I wasn’t sure if it was for me,  but I absolutely loved it, slept the best I had for years and a calmness that was very welcome after a stressful week.  Sound therapy/Gong has really taken me by surprise and with that in mind I want to spread the love, if it helps one of you lovely clients it’s worthwhile, therefore I am holding a Gong Bath/Sound therapy session at Sanity in August, drop me a line if it pricks your interest as I understand it’s very different .  The session starts literally by you bringing along your pillow, selecting one of the comfy beds to lay on, place a lavender bag over your eyes, take a deep breath hold for 10 and release and then just allow yourself to switch off and enjoy the sounds, the vibrations and take it in and enjoy.

The interesting detail about Gong;

Gong was accidentally made over 4000 years ago.

Although Gong meditation could be thought as merely just another fad activity, it really is not. Gongs have been used as shamanic tools and celebratory instruments for thousands of years, and are truly part of the tradition that is sound healing, which uses techniques such as chanting, drums, and Tibetan bowls to name few.

The benefits one can get from being exposed to the tones of the gongs are numerous, yet vary considerably. Most clients will notice a major improvement in the quality of their sleep, a better ability to cope with stress, and a sense of familiarity with stillness and contentment.

Our normal waking consciousness corresponds to the Beta state, which is our brain emitting waves between13-30Hertz. The feeling of relaxation and concentration is linked to the Alpha state, which sends waves between 8-13Hertz. The Theta state (5-7Hertz), associated with Rapid Eye Movement and release of muscular spasms and energetic blockages. Last but not least, Delta state (0.5-4Hertz), emitting extremely low vibrations associated with deep sleep and other unconscious states. To illustrate this frequency state, a lot of us tend to be on a full on Beta state with a little dash of Alpha during the day, and if fortunate enough, a decent amount of hours spent emitting Delta waves at night. We do not necessarily want 10 hours of Theta waving nevertheless, we all need considerably more time spent in Theta state, so that we are able to concentrate and relax on demand through Alpha waves bringing with a sense of calm and stillness, great for our Well Being.

There are 4 spaces for clients on this evening, Wednesday 17 August we will start in Sanity at 6.30 with a pre-drink and chat about the session, going through to the relaxation lounge at 7 for a full hour of peace, harmony, taking in the sounds and after a chance to chat with Kanti about the session.  This costs £30 per client and I will require a £10 deposit for those wishing to secure a place as with only 4 spaces it’s a first come first served basis.  Should this event be successful I would look to hold further sessions.
